9 month check up

This baby still doesn't sleep through the night but she sure is cute when she sleeps.

We took her for her check up last week and she is growing so much!  She is 18 lbs 15 oz and 23 1/2 inches tall.  She is 50% for height and weight but still 99% for her giant head :)

She loves food and will eat pretty much anything except peas.  She has refused them on more than one occasion.   She has also decided she is done with nursing.  She would rather have the bottle.  Good and bad....at least i won't have to wean her, but I am having to pump 4 times a day.  It is taking up time and ties me down a few times a day and makes our schedules a little off sometimes but it is only for a few more months

She loves clapping and playing in the floor.  She loves her Kermit and even though she shows him some tough love at times i think he might be her favorite lovey.  She is sort of crawling...if you can call what she does crawling.  We will just say she is mobile :)  she also loves to walk while holding onto my hands.  It's pretty adorable.  She is gibbering and blowing raspberries and loves to stick her tounge out.  Still no teeth....

Love this kid.  She will be walking and talking before i know it.  I have to start planning a first birthday party soon.  I can't believe that it is so close already!!  Keep growing baby!!!

The perfect picnic at the park

We had a picinic at Red Caboose park.  It was the perfect weather and the food was good.  Overall it was a great outing.  Naomi enjoyed some sweet potatoes and cheerios while Jake and I had some awesome meatball sandwiches and some cheesy zucchini.  Heavenly evening!

My first weekday off

Jake is back at school everyday now so we are rearranging our schedules a bit.  I now take every other Wednesday off.  The rest of the time Naomi is passed around from AuntTracie, Aunt Jennifer, her daddy, and myself with the occasional trip to my office.

We went to work together Monday of this week and then I got to take Wednesday off.  It didn't natter that Naomi didn't sleep well the night before because I could stay in my pajamas all day if I wanted.  Not that I did, but I could:)

Instead of staying in bed all day we went to the grocery store, played, read books, played, took naps, played, ate, went for a walk to the park, swung at the park, played some more, and got to welcome Daddy home from work instead of the other way around.

It was great!  A marvelous day!  I wish every day could be like that.  I am very grateful for my job, I just wish I didn't have to work.  Maybe some day I will be able to be a full time stay at home Mom, but for now I will take every other Wednesday and love every minute of it.

Almost there

Naomi has never liked being on her stomach.  She hated tummy time and when she finally learned how to roll over there was no keeping her on her stomach long enough for her to figure out how to crawl.   She has since learned that she can roll back and forth on her own so she seems to enjoy playing on the floor a little more these past few weeks.

Last Sunday after dinner I put her up on her knees just to see what she would do.  She normally flops over onto her back almost immediately.  To my surprise she stayed on her knees for almost a minute! She didn't fuss or cry, she just looked around and then fell over.  She might be crawling soon!

 Go baby!!!!

Celebrating good news

Jake has been trying to finalize a book contract with Springer press for a few months.  He was lucky enough to speak to one of the editors for a book series at the end of last year.  They have gone back and forth finalizing the details and he got the final notice today!  He has until May 2014 to turn in the final draft.  Less than a year!  It will be a purely academic book, so I doubt I will be reading it to Naomi at bedtime.  It is still absolutely amazing that he got a contact so soon after graduating!

We are so excited and proud of him.  Good job Jake!

Give me that spoon

This baby loves to eat. She has really enjoyed just about everything we give her.  Her favorites right now are sweet potatoes and she also loves peach banana oatmeal.  She also enjoys frozen cubes of Yo Baby peach yogurt.  She does not like the blue berry though.  Her Daddy was happy she enjoys the  peach.  He knows she is waiting to have her first red globe peach when we make it to Colorado, although she still has no teeth....

She is drooling a lot and she chews on everything....everything!  Toys, clothes, phones, remotes, toes and not always her own :)

She is getting a litle bit more hair though.  We aren't sure what the final color will be yet.  There is a little red, blond, light and dark brown all over.  At least it is filling in now!  Love this sweet face!!!!

Naomi's first 4th of July

We have a big 4th of July bash at my brother's house every year.  We all swim, play sports, and eat way tooooo much food....like all day.  Then we enjoy a fireworks show to finish out the night.

I was so excited for Naomi to get to swim.  She was all ready to wear the bathing suit her aunt Erika got her.

TN had other plans...it rained all day :(  No pool, no volleyball, and no fireworks.  Not that we would have stayed for them this year, but it still stunk.  So we all hung out and still ate way too much.  Including a chocolate lasagna my sister in law Mary Jane made which was slamming!!!

we also played board games and there was a few rounds of Shanghai rumi.  Naomi got in on the action and had a great time.  She was so good all day considering she had just a few short naps.

Getting a little cousin cuddles

Happy 4th

We got her home and put her to bed around 7:30 and she not only zlept through the neighborhood fireworks she slept the entire night without eating until 6:00 am.  That was a one time thing I'm sure.

Hope everyone had a great holiday.

Shenanigans with Daddy

I work part time Monday through Friday from 12-5.  Jake comes home and gets to spend the afternoons with Naomi.  I would rather be home all day with her but right now that's not gonna happen.  So it gives Jake plenty of Daddy time.  I spend all morning with her and she naps most of the afternoon.  Works out well for him :)

He is a great Dad and husband.  He sends me photos almost everyday.  Here are a few....

I
Love that face!!!

Father's Day

This was Jake's first year as a father.  Naomi had a horrible night leading up to Father's Day so I started the day of at 4:30.  Naomi watched me as I made French toast for breakfast, which was slammin' by the way.  We gave Jake his presents before break fast.

I had spent all week sneaking around getting these photos taken, printed, and put in a frame for him to keep in his office.  Tracie (my sister in law) had done this last year where you take photos of your kids with the letters that spell DAD.  Naomi did a great job and I thought they turned out really nice.  Jake loved it!

We spent the morning hanging out together and then we got ready for church.  Dinner was at our house this week.  Jake requested butternut squash risotto and garlic pull apart bread.  I also made some steak roll ups I had seen on Pinterest.  Tracie brought dessert and it all turned out well!

Naomi loves her Daddy and I am pretty fond of him too.

(Mom why am I dressed like this?)

(What is this?)

(Tastes pretty good I guess)

(Daddy's tie is cool)

This girl is sweet but....

She doesn't want to sleep...

Nomi can only sleep for about 3 hours at a time during the night.  She doesn't always sleep in stretches that long mind you.  She just won't learn how to put herself to sleep.  I am unwilling to let her "cry it out" so I won't complain to much since we haven't really given it a real try.  For now we swap off every few nights or so.  I sleep in the spare bed in her room and Jake will take a night when I ask him to and I get to sleep in our bed.

This week I had one of the worst migraines hit me while I was at work.  It was so bad that I couldn't see out of my peripheral vision and Jake had to load Naomi in the car and pick me up from work.  That night Jake sent me to sleep in our bed.  I only had to get up at feed her once around 3:00am.  Love him and appreciated that so much.  Naomi is almost 7 months so she doesn't need to eat during the night but she always screams as if she is hungry so for now she still gets a late night snack.

She is doing better with naps during the day.  She even surprised me two mornings this past week with a 2 hour nap!  She kept waking up during her late afternoon nap so Daddy held her for the last bit of it.

Love her to pieces though!
